The Islington Bereavement service provides award winning 1:1 peer support to bereaved adults in the borough.
Run by St Joseph’s Hospice, trained bereavement volunteers provide emotional, social and practical support for up to 10 weekly sessions, usually in the person’s own home.
Referrals
Clients can either self-refer, or be referred by other agencies by ringing the First Contact Team at St Joseph’s on 0300 303 0400.
Support group
The service also runs an open peer support group where members share their bereavement experiences. The group also prepare and share lunch together to reduce social isolation.
